NTVU UAVs are Chinese UAVs developed by (NTVU, 南通职业大学) and has entered service in China for aerial cinematography, photography, and survey missions with local business.
Quadcopter
NTVU UAVs are developed by a development team consisted of students led by the general designer Mr. Wang Dao-Yu (王道榆), who is an aviation enthusiast. The first UAV developed by the team was a quadcopter, and a total of two was completed, named as Blue Feather (Lan-Yu, 蓝羽) 1 and 2 respectively. The quadcopter is intended for aerial photography missions and the only difference between the two is the payload, where different cameras are carried.[1] NTVU quadcopter is the first NTVU that was put into successful operational deployment by filming documentary for the school, but it is not the first NTVU UAV put into commercial use, which would be its successors.[1] Specification:[1]
- Ceiling (km): 1
- Endurance (min): 20 – 40
- Hourly operational cost (¥): 2,000 – 3,000
Hexacopter
NTVU hexacopter is the second UAV developed by Mr. Wang and his team at NTVU, and it is a hexacopter in typical hexarotor layout with a pair of skids as landing gear. The hexacopter is the first NTVU UAV putting into successful commercial applications by providing aerial photos for a hospital redevelopment project, earning the team ¥ 600, which begun the commercial operation to support the development. The operational cost of UAV doing the same job is only ten percent of that of manned aircraft.[2] Specification:[2]
- Ceiling (km): 1.5
- Endurance (min): 20 – 40
- Remote control radius (km): 1.2
- Payload (kg): 3.5
- Hourly operational cost (¥): 2,000 – 3,000
- Max wind scale allowed for operation: 6
Octocopter
NTVU octocopter is the next generation NTVU multirotor currently under development, and in addition to the usual aerial cinematography, photography and surveying application, the octocopter is also expected to be capable of carrying out agricultural missions such as crop dusting. The payload is increased to four kilogram.[1][2]
Fixed-wing UAV
NTVU fixed-wing UAV is a UAV intended for aerial cinematography, photography, survey, forest fire detection, and power line inspection. The fixed-wing UAV is capable of real-time imagery transmission.[3] Specification:[3]
- Speed (km/hr): 80
- Endurance (hr): 3
- Normal operating radius (km): 20
