USS Columbia (SSBN-826) will be a future United States Navy ballistic missile submarine, the lead boat of the Columbia-class submarine and the first vessel of the Navy to be named for the District of Columbia. The boat was officially named on 14 December 2016, by U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus.[1]
