Summary
DescriptionAmazing Play of Color - Opal from GemSelect..webm
English: More than any other gem or gem type, each opal is distinctly indeed its own individual. No other gemstone has nearly as much rich and varied folklore. The fire of opal was long thought to be the result of a unique phenomenon known as iridescence. However, with evolved better technology and the advent of scanning electron microscopes, we now know that it is a direct result of diffraction. This is a 5.22 carat opal from GemSelect, originating from Ethiopia. You can see more details at gemselect.com/opal/opal-302406.php.
