Summary

Description
English: A typical workflow of modern-day MAVEs. First, a library of genetic variants is constructed either through error-prone PCR or direct mutagenesis using advanced CRISPR-Cas9 techniques. Then, the library is integrated into the model system. A phenotypic selection is applied to separate the variants based on fitness. An example of a selection is drug resistance. Next, the cell population is sequenced, and computational methods are used to compute scores for each variant by comparing variant frequencies before and after selection.
