Organization:CITYNET
CITYNET is a regional network of over 130 cities and organizations specializing in sustainable urban development. CITYNET programs focus on the fields of climate change, disaster risk reduction and infrastructure development through city-to-city cooperation.
Starting with 26 members in 1987, CITYNET has grown to 130 members in 2013, attracting members from more than 20 countries.[1] Members are cities and local governments, non-governmental organizations, and development authorities in the Asia-Pacific. CITYNET promotes the exchange of knowledge, skills and techniques through four major program areas: training programs, seminars and forums, technical advisory services (TAS), and technical cooperation among cities of developing countries (TCDC). Within the TCDC framework, CITYNET facilitates study visits and advisory team exchanges between cities in order to provide technical assistance on urban issues.[2]
CITYNET Secretariat moved its office to Seoul in South Korea on 26 March 2013 after 20 years in Yokohama, Japan.
