Green Kemalism or Islamist Kemalism is the ideology in which Islamist elements are adopted, unlike the secular Kemalist regime, but other basic mechanisms and fixed policies of the old regime are preserved. Green Kemalism has been characterized as conservative nationalism. Nagehan Alçı, in an article he published in Habertürk in 2020, claimed that the establishment in Turkey is dependent on this ideology, and that politicians such as Tunç Soyer, Özgür Özel and Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who do not follow the secular Kemalist general line of the CHP, are in conflict with people like Mansur Yavaş who take this general line. Compared to these, he attributed their constant and widespread criticism to the establishment's perception of these people as a danger and to their opposition to them. The columnist for the newspaper "Decision", Ahmet Taşgetiren, analyzed Nagehan Alçı's article and published an article examining the relations between Green Kemalism and the ruling AKP party. Yeni Akit writer Abdurrahman Dilipak criticized the Green Kemalists.

The new Asia writer Kazım Güleçyüz has presented the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's increasing adoption of Kemalism since the 2016 coup as an example of Green Kemalism. Hatem Ete, who was the former director of the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Studies and served as the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor until 2017, in the article in Yeni Asya on President Erdoğan, "He came to power with the claim and expectation of being an alternative to the Kemalist modernization project. Green Kemalism was defined by adding the comment "Erdogan has strengthened the Kemalist design of politics and society by updating it with a populist and conservative tone".
