Social:Han Solo Dance
Han Solo’s Dance or I’m Han Solo is an Internet meme from the Star Wars video game Kinect Star Wars.[1] It featured in the subgame Galactic Dance Off where the player will perform a dance synchronised with the camera on the screen which is being tracked through the Kinect similar to games like Just Dance. The player would copy the step-by-step moves being shown on the screen with the moves being given names related to the character and the Star Wars films.[2] The song is a parody of Jason Derulo’s Riding Solo.[3]
Reception and legacy
The game itself was a critical failure[4][5] with most of the attention set on the infamous dance mode. This being the reason for it’s popularity.
Joystiq remarked “Honestly, the depiction of a Han Solo as a dancing dreamboat could very well drive Harrison Ford to commit suicide just so he can roll over in his grave." JonTron, posted his review of the game on Youtube featuring I’m Han Solo at the end of the video with the video gaining over 8,000,000 views helping the game and the song gain prominence.[6]
Youtuber Shooptube made a parody of the Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer using I’m Han Solo with the video gaining over 400,000 views.[7]
