Software:DITAworks

From HandWiki

DITAworks is a component content management system (CCMS) for enterprise-level technical documentation management. It is based on the DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) standard, which is used for structured, topic-based authoring and content reuse.[1] DITAworks uses multiple processors to handle different publishing requirements:

  • DITA Open Toolkit covers the majority of DITA documents for which publication speed isn’t the first priority.
  • Secondary processors are optimized for faster publication of materials, processing materials in under a second.

Functionality

DITAworks software has different functional scopes, such as:

  • Maintains links integrity between reusable content objects, even when content is relocated within the system.
  • Supports various reusable components, including maps, topics, and metadata.
  • Includes a drag-and-drop functionality within the map editing menu, allowing users to modify map structures without the need to switch to separate tabs.
  • Allows users to create tags for product-related topics and maps to facilitate organization and search.
  • Supports simultaneous collaboration of multiple users working on the same root content[2].

History

DITAworks was developed and released by the Germany-based software company Instinctools in 2014.

In 2014, DITAworks introduced integration with the XTM software - a translation management system.[3]

DITAworks is used by enterprises, such as Fujitsu company[4], to manage technical documentation and translation processes.
