From HandWiki

Electronic Distributed Monitoring and Evaluation Solution (EDMES) is a system used specifically for the monitoring and evaluation of socio-economic programmes.[1] It is a component-based IT solution developed to fit the requirements of diverse programmes of multiple distributed organizations.

It was initially designed and developed by e-Soul (Pty) Ltd for a USAID-funded organization (HOPE Worldwide) to monitor disparate services in HIV and AIDS projects across the continent of Africa. The EDMES solution provides an infrastructure basis for the deployment of an M&E Framework.

Open source application used for the configuration of the solution are FreeBSD, MySQL, and Pentaho. A Crippleware version was made available to the sector via SAGONET.[citation needed] Other versions exists that addresses professional and enterprise requirements.
