The service was founded on 24th September 2020 in Madrid, Spain by KNN Digital Media's SEO team[5]. The service was initially launched only in Spanish, but on 16th February 2022 an English version was added.

Reviews
Softonic's users give FormatPDF.com a "4.9/5" on the website's page of the service, and Softonic's page notes that "Compared to other PDF tools like Icecream PDF Editor or PDF-XChange Editor, FormatPDF boasts much of the same list of functions as its contemporaries. What makes it stand out more is it can be used online, making it more convenient and accessible across a variety of devices and situations." However, equally, Softonic's page adds that "Daily document limit for the free version" and "Free version has ads"[9]
On FormatPDF.com's profile page on independent review website Capterra, the service has an average of "4.7/5" based on 29 reviews. Pros of the service include that "It's a key tool in my department and we really enjoy how easy it is. It has many solutions and it satisfies all our needs" and "As an avid Chrome user FormatPDF was easy to install and has been problem free”. However, the cons include "Monthly fee is annoying. Would rather one off fee."[10]
In iGeeksBlog.com's review of FormatPDF of December 21st 2022, the service was awarded "4/5", and reviewer Anoop described the service as one "that effortlessly compresses and edits PDF documents."[11]
