Software:Jasper AI
Jasper AI is an artificial intelligence that offers an AI technology based software to automate tasks related to copywriting and marketing. Jasper has been used by a wide range of clients, including HubSpot and Sports Illustrated.[1] Jasper is considered to be a type ChatGPT "wrapper", meaning it uses the OpenAI API to power its product, rather than original tech.[2][3] The founders of Jasper have admitted the software suffers from hallucinations, which means it may produce false information.[4][5]
Technology and features
The core feature of Jasper is to produce blog articles and website copy.[6] Jasper AI operates on technology from third-party models such as Cohere, OpenAI, and Anthropic.[7]
During an interview in August 2023, AP news reported that Jasper president, Shane Orlick, admitted that the platform suffered from hallucination, a side effect of large language models that causes false or incorrect information to be produced.[8]
Core features of Jasper's product include their "AI co-pilot," their API, and their AI art generator.
- The "AI copilot" for marketing, intended to assist the content creation process with additional tools and analytics. These include AI-driven insights, campaign management features such as assignments, comments, and content scheduling, all integrated within the content production workflow.[9][10]
- Jasper offers an API that is available for integration into customer-facing applications, enhancing user experience with its generative AI toolkit.
- Jasper also features an AI art generator called "Jasper Art" that employs DALL·E 2 technology, enabling users to create AI-generated artwork within the application.[11]
History
Jasper AI (formally Jarvis AI) is an artificial intelligence application that specializes in generating AI-created blog posts, articles, and various forms of digital content. It was launched in January 2021 by co-founders Dave Rogenmoser, Chris Hull, and John Phillip Morgan in Austin, Texas.[12]
The platform is designed to function as an AI copywriter, capable of writing text on autopilot, and it is built upon the artificial intelligence models developed by OpenAI. In July 2023 Jasper employees faced layoffs, however the company is still continuing to release products, aiming to attract more enterprise clients.[13][14][15]
Leadership change
On September 28, 2023, Jasper AI announced a change in leadership. CEO Dave Rogenmoser, one of the company's co-founders, decided to step down and assume a chairman of the board role. He was succeeded by Timothy Young, former president of Dropbox Inc.[16][17]
Evaluation
Jasper AI has raised a total of $143 million in funding since its launch, with a notable $125 million investment round that valued the company at $1.5 billion.[18][19]
Recognition
Jasper was recognized by The Information as one of the "Top 50 Most Promising Startups," however it has been acknowledged that rise of ChatGPT may have impacted the company's future growth.[20]
