Liifer Technologies Inc., commonly known as Liifer, is a cloud-based platform designed to bridge the virtual world of video gaming with the real world. By leveraging Open REST-APIs, Liifer allows gamers to interact programmatically with real-world entities such as stores and services, while enabling the real world to reach gamers.[1] One of the main features of Liifer is its ability to allow gamers to order food online while playing within their gaming environment, without interrupting their gaming sessions[2][3]. This is particularly emphasized on consoles such as the Xbox, where players can place orders directly from the gaming environment[4].
Liifer not only provides gamers with an innovative way to order food in-game, but also allows restaurants to reach gamers with exclusive offers, creating a new channel for businesses[5]. Available on all web browsers and devices, Liifer is the only food ordering platform that allows composing and storing custom meals.[1] Menu discovery, order creation, and online payment are implemented as part of the platform. Inspired by the dystopian environment of Ernest Cline's Ready Player One, Liifer's mission is to create a virtual bridge between the exhilaration of the gaming world and real life.
History
2021 - 2023
Liifer was founded in February 2021 by Louis-Philippe Ostiguy, son of entrepreneur Patrick Ostiguy, and his uncle David Ostiguy[6][7]. The company's primary focus was to create a virtual platform that enables its users to order food while playing video games. The first software product created as part of their pre-launch was their online web application. Initially, this web application only allowed pay-at-the-door payment through first-party delivery-partnered restaurants. As the platform grew larger, online payment and third-party delivery became available[8].
Later, applications were developed for Xbox and desktop, allowing gamers to order food in-game, as an overlay[9]. This breakthrough feature changed the way gamers interact with real-world services while being immersed in their virtual experiences. Today, Liifer supports over 1000 video games and offers a choice of 800,000 restaurants to order from[10]. Liifer currently operates in both Canada and the United States[1][11].
Notable Partnerships
In 2023, Liifer Technologies partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts to enable gamers to order from MrBeast Burger, a popular virtual restaurant, without having to pause their game[2][12]. The integration was first available through Xbox consoles and desktop in-game, allowing players to place their order directly from the gaming environment[4]. This collaboration garnered significant attention in the gaming and food industry, as it demonstrated Liifer's potential to change how gamers interact with real-world services while immersed in their virtual experiences[13].
