Software:Madcap

From HandWiki

MADCAP (dairy software) is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system used for the fluid milk supply chain and procurement process and lends itself to other commodity types.[1] It provides management, automation of scheduling, collection, and testing of milk. The name MADCAP is an acronym for Milk Analysis, Data Capture & Processing.

Supply chain management software for the dairy sector connects milk haulers, producers, processors, and laboratories with information to manage milk quality and operations.

MADCAP was developed by Contec Group International,[2] and headquartered in Christchurch, New Zealand.

History

MADCAP was first developed in 1974 [3] in conjunction with the New Zealand Dairy Board who had a requirement to connect analytical equipment for the dairy industry with a computer system - a world first for the dairy industry.

The first release offered automated milk testing with results collection and storage, collection data, manual data entry of quality results, the printing of supplier tickets, and the creation of information to be sent to the New Zealand Dairy Board's supplier payments system.

MADCAP was written on the Jade Platform, using the JADE Object-Oriented environment in 1996.[4] The aim at the time was for the ability to configure and customize with continuous deployment and functionality on a single integrated platform.

MADCAP is now in version VI as of 2022.
