Object Capture is a Photogrammetry API created by Apple.[1] It debuted in MacOS 12 and it provides a quick and easy way to create lifelike 3D models of real-world objects using just a few images.[2]
The API was introduced during Apple's Worldwide Deveoper Conference in 2021 as a photogrammetry tool built on the Swift programming language and coming to the Monterey edition of macOS via RealityKit 2, the next version of Apple's Augmented Reality engine.[3][4]
In addition, Apple noted during its introduction that tools such as Qlone, Cinema4D and Unity are using Object Capture for creating 3D content within their respective 3D content creation apps.[5][6]
