OnionShare is a cross-platform open source application that utilizes tor network to share files, host websites and chat in a secure and anonymous manner.[1] Users can share files peer-to-peer over a tor network for privacy and anonymity. Radically Open Security has audited the software.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Features
It's main features are:[7]
- Send and receive files peer-to-peer over tor
- Chat ephemerally
- Host a website
History
OnionShare's initial release was hampered by RIAA and MPAA who wanted to limit peeer-to-peer file sharing solutions.[3]
October 2021, Onionshare patched two low risk vulnerabilities.[10][5]
