Tred is an online app that is used to sell motor vehicles.

History

The company was founded in Seattle, Washington,[1] and was cofounded by Grant Feek[2] and John Wehr[3] in 2012.[4]

Prior to launching its app, it had received about $1.8 million in seed funding.[4][5] The first $100,000 came from a group that included former GM CEO Rick Wagoner prior to the app design, and the rest from a collection of private equity firms.[6][7] Feek served as the company’s founding CEO.[8] In 2014, the app was nominated for a Webby award[9] and that year the funding for the company reached $2.5 million in total.[10] In 2015 the company total then reached $4 million.[11][12][13][14][15]

Business

Tred developed a peer-to-peer marketplace where used car owners can sell their vehicles directly to potential customers.[16] The app also aids in additional tasks, such as DMV registration, and GAP insurance.[17] Fees apply to those selling the vehicles, with Tred offering financing and warranties.[18][19] By 2019, the app was available in Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, and Florida, including 13 American cities.[20][21]
