WebSpellChecker software is multi-language spell checking technology and services for web-based systems, founded in 2000 by SpellChecker.net, Inc. It is designed for integration to websites, email marketing tools, content management, help desk and customers relationship management[3] systems. WebSpellChecker free version is also embedded to CKEditor by default.

History

SpellChecker.net, Inc. was founded back in 1999[4] in the United States. A year later, the first version of the WebSpellChecker.net product was released. During the next 15 years it has been provided as a B2B solution that helps companies to create error-free writing for their business and ensure accuracy and professionalism.

On June 7, 2016, the rights to the WebSpellChecker software was sold to a Ukrainian-based Limited Liability Company, WebSpellChecker LLC.[5]

Currently, WebSpellChecker LLC is a small product development company based in Kharkiv.

Products and Integrations

WebSpellChecker software are designed to be integrated and used among multiple HTML editable controls such as input, textarea, iframe, tags with a content editable attribute (div, span, p, etc.), iframe and also provided as plug-ins for the most popular WYSIWYG editors like CKEditor[6] 4+, TinyMCE[7] 4+ and Froala.[8] WebSpellChecker released plug-in for WordPress [9] and application for Slack,[10] which allow users spell checking during typing. WebSpellChecker mainly provides four products: WebSpellChecker (WSC), SpellCheckAsYouType (SCAYT), Web API and WProofreader.

  1. SCAYT provides a user ability to see and correct misspelled words while typing. All misspelled words are underlined. The user can apply corrections from the drop-down menu with listed suggestions where needed.
  2. WSC works in a separate pop-up window and automatically returns corrected text to the form. It is also extended with English Grammar Checker and Thesaurus functionality.
  3. Web API provides a list of commands/interfaces in JSON/XML format that can be used to implement own spelling and grammar check strategy in web applications, websites, etc.
  4. WProofreader[11] is based on SCAYT core and is designed to simplify the integration and combine the functionality of SCAYT and WSC.
