SMS barcode

SMS Barcode is an integration between barcode and mobile SMS service. Built on mobile picture message, the technology allows sending barcode, supports both 1D and 2D barcode symbologies, to the mobile unit. The barcode will be displayed through an SMS unit and the barcode can be scanned by imaging scanners which use optical sensors.

SMS barcodes use two main formats Smart Messaging (SM) and EMS, The former developed by Nokia and the latter developed by Ericsson. The use of SMS Barcodes is an integral part of mobile ticketing.

Using SMS barcodes:

  • A company can sell and distribute tickets online and in shops.
  • Create a Loyalty Card for shopping.
  • Send customer-specific coupons and vouchers instantly to a customer's phone.
