LIDS stands for management, information and documentation system (from German words Leitungs-, Informations- und Dokumentationssystem), and is a modern, modular geographic information system with integrated resource management..[1], AM/FM/GIS/NIS system. It is the central asset register for infrastructure operators, energy supply companies and industrial companies, resource management and geographic information system in one[2]

LIDS defines as an open and scalable geo and network and resource information system a new standard in the GIS world. All information (graphics & factual data) is saved redundantly in the database, based on Oracle Spatial (Locator) technology or newly in Postgis/PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server database.

The LIDS product family offers the range from individual workstations to GIS work groups to company-wide GIS complete software and data usage via easy-to-use, internet-based information workstations.[3]

One of the extensions is the telco module fully integrated in LIDS for managing the cable route (routes, cross sections, cladding tubes, micro tubes) and the fiber route (fiber, splice sleeves, racks, contacts) as well as services, damping, path finding and more.

Architecture

  • Strictly three tiers software architecture (database, application server, clients - desktop, web, app)
  • Metadata (XML, JSON) based environment, data model defines not only data structures, also app functions, look and feel
  • Communication in open standards[4]
  • Administration using web consoles

  • Dimensioning
  • Parallel bundles of cables
  • Individual entry menus
  • Rich plot layouts
  • Use of plot templates

SAMO Platform

  • Next generation of the software platform, it takes LIDS system as base of the new metadata based environment - SAMO, Strategic Asset Management & Operations[1]
