Mompha idaei is a moth in the family Momphidae first described by Philipp Christoph Zeller in 1839.[1][2][3][4] It has a Holarctic distribution;[2][4] in North America it is found from coast to coast in the boreal forest south to Colorado and Washington (state) .[4]

The wingspan is 18–22 mm.[3] Adults are on wing in May to July.[4] The larvae live in the roots of Epilobium angustifolium[3][4] and Epilobium latifolium.[4]
