Summa Technologies was a privately owned software architecture, design and development consultancy based in Pittsburgh, PA. Summa’s customers included large financial services, healthcare, retail and manufacturing companies[1]. Summa, its CEO, Audrey Dunning. and over 200 employees joined CGI in August 2017 through acquisition.[2]
History
Summa was founded in 1996 by Ed Engler and led by engineering, sales and operational leaders from IBM / Transarc throughout its 20 year history[3][2].
Summa initially focused on software development for mission critical distributed and early web-based commerce and financial systems[3]. Summa added Salesforce and UX design strategy practices through acquisitions in 2010 and 2011 respectively[1][4][5].
Over its history, Summa held offices in in multiple downtown Pittsburgh locations including the Ewart Building[3] before growing to add a design studio in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood[5]. Before its sale, it consolidated offices in the historic Alcoa Building in 2016[6].
After the sale to CGI, Summa's staff and business were a key part of CGIs expansion in the US Commercial market[7].
