It manages domestic air traffic for the city of Colima and supports executive and general aviation activities. Operated by Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA), a federal government-owned corporation, the airport is named after former President of Mexico Miguel de la Madrid. The apron, measuring 16,200 square metres (174,000 sq ft), includes three parking positions for narrow-body aircraft and additional spaces for small aircraft and helipads.
