Elachista ophthalma is a moth of the family Elachistidae. It is found along the coast of south-eastern New South Wales.[1]

The wingspan is 8.4–9.7 millimetres (0.33–0.38 in) for males and 7.8–9.8 millimetres (0.31–0.39 in) for females. The forewings are brown, powdered with dark brownish grey-tipped scales. The hindwings are grey.

The larvae feed on Gahnia melanocarpa. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine is straight and reaches a length of about 250 millimetres (9.8 in). Pupation takes place outside of the mine.
