Development

Vastav AI was developed as a response to the increasing prevalence of deepfake technology, which has been used in misinformation campaigns, digital fraud, and cyber threats. The name Vastav is derived from the Hindi word for "Reality", signifying its core mission—to expose and counteract synthetic and misleading digital content.

Vastav AI utilizes a combination of deep learning models, neural networks, and forensic algorithms to analyze media files. Its primary features include:

  • Deepfake detection – Identifies AI-generated videos, images, and synthetic voice manipulations.
  • Heat maps – Highlights regions within images or videos that exhibit AI-generated artifacts.

Vastav AI was showcased at CIDECODE, a hackathon organized by CID Karnataka under PES University on March 8–9, 2025.[17][18] The project was awarded and received recognition for its potential in combating misinformation and cyber threats.[8][5][19][10]

According to a Radware and IBM cybersecurity report, deepfake attacks rank as the third most significant AI-driven cyber threat, following phishing and AI-powered malware creation, Deepfake fraud is surging, up 3000% in 2023[20][21]
