The length of the forewings is 2.1 mm.[1] The forewing is elongate and the ground colour is golden ochreous with white markings.[1] The hindwings are pale grey with a silver shine.[1] Adults are on wing in April and July.[1]

Etymology

The species is named in honour of Professor Amon Petro Maerere of the Department of Crop Science and horticulture at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania.[1] He is the father of an entomologist and agronomist Peter Amon Maerere.
