A VerySpatial Podcast[1] is a weekly podcast that provides information on geography and geospatial technologies. The podcast comments on GIS's impact on digital daily lives.

The podcast seeks to cover current trends in the GIS technology industry and receives mention in industry blogs.[2][3] The crew has also been interviewed by Directions Magazine.[4]

Format

The podcast opens with the episode number, a 30-second teaser for a podsafe song, and an overview of the topics to be covered in the episode. Following a sponsorship ad, shout outs go out to Twitter and Facebook followers and the hosts discuss 3-4 news items from the week that are relevant to Geography and GIS including new software releases. A web site is highlighted in the 'WebCorner' before moving on the main topic which is either an interview from someone in the industry or a discussion amongst the hosts about an industry topic. The show rounds out with a 'Tip of the Week' that highlights a technology or technique, 'EventsCorner' that highlights upcoming Geography or GIS conferences, and the full podsafe song that was teased at the beginning of the episode which changes weekly.

Hosts

The podcast is hosted by Jesse Rouse, Sue Bergeron, and Frank Lafone.

The podcast started up in July 2005 and has since published well over 200 weekly episodes and numerous Special Episodes that highlight specific topics and AVSP Roadshow episodes which cover activity at Geography and GIS conferences.
