Bruno Souza is a Brazilian Java programmer and open source software advocate. He was President of SouJava, a Brazil ian Java User Group he helped establish [2] which became the world's largest.[3] [4] [5] He was one of the initiators[clarification needed] of the Apache Harmony project to create a non-proprietary Java virtual machine.[6] He's known as the "Brazilian JavaMan"[2][7][8][9][10][11]

Bruno is a member of the board of directors at the Open Source Initiative representing Affiliate members.[12] This is his second term on the OSI Board.[13] He is also a member of the executive committee of the Java Community Process.[14] In 2010, he co-founded ToolsCloud, a developer tools provider.[15]
