Biography:Kamran Ahmad
Kamran Ahmad is an author and former clinical psychologist[1] whose work has addressed religion, spirituality, gender, and South Asian society. He has also been associated with civil society initiatives[2] in Pakistan and with United Nations[3][4] staff counselling work.
Education
Ahmad studied at the University of Minnesota, where he completed a B.S. in Philosophy of Science / Physics[5]. He later earned two master's degrees from John F. Kennedy University, in Consciousness Studies and Clinical Psychology. He completed a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies. His doctoral work was on religious tolerance.
Writings
Ahmad is the author of Roots of Religious Tolerance in Pakistan and India (2008). Reviewing the book in The News on Sunday[6], Sarwat Ali wrote that Ahmad examined the historical roots of coexistence in the subcontinent and asked whether those roots could be strengthened as a response to intolerance.
He later published Goddess of the Indus[7], a historical novel set in the ancient. In NRI Pulse[8], Qaiser Mukhtar described the novel as a work dealing with gender, sacred sexuality, and cultural memory in South Asian history. In a separate review for the Centre for Research and Policy Development, Khadim Hussain wrote that the novel explored caste, spirituality, and social hierarchy in the region's past.
