Said Hadjerrouit is a professor of informatics and mathematics education at the University of Agder in Kristiansand, Norway.

Education

Hadjerrouit received a master's degree in 1985 in software engineering from the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. In 1992, he received his doctoral degree in engineering in the field of medical expert systems and artificial intelligence.

Career

Hadjerrouit worked as an assistant at the Technische Universität Berlin between 1985 and 1990. His teaching in Berlin focused mostly on informatics and society, philosophical and ethical issues of computing, and computers in developing countries. In 1991, he accepted a position at the Institute of Electronic Data processing at the University of Agder.[1] In 1994, Hadjerrouit was appointed an associate professor at the Department for Mathematical Sciences at the same university, teaching object-oriented programming, Web engineering, software development, and databases.[2] Between 2004 and 2008, Hadjerrouit focused on Computer Science Education. In 2008, Hadjerrouit started to work in the field of mathematics education and use of digital tools in teaching and learning mathematics and has, since 2014, been reaching the "Theories in the Learning and Teaching of Mathematics" course.[3] Between 2020 and 2024, Hadjerrouit led the PhD committee for Specialisation in Mathematical Sciences.[4]

Hadjerrouit is a member of the Informing Science Institute[5], and of the Agder Academy of Sciences and Letters.[6] He also served on the editorial review board of the Interdisciplinary Journal of E-Learning and Learning Objects.[7]

As of 2026, Hadjerrouit is a professor of informatics and mathematics education at the University of Agder.[8]

He received an “Outstanding Paper Award” for a paper he presented at the IADIS e-Society 2012 conference in Berlin.[9]
