Acronicta haesitata, the hesitant dagger moth, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. The species was first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1882.[1] It is found in North America from Nova Scotia to South Carolina, west to Texas , north to Ontario.

The wingspan is 30–43 mm. Adults are on wing from April to September depending on the location. It has two generations per year in the south and one in the north.

The larvae feed on leaves of red oak and white oak.
