Amphidiscosa is an order of hexactinellid sponges characterized by amphidisc spicules, that is, spicules having a stellate disk at each end.[1] They are in the class Hexactinellida and the subclass Amphidiscophora[2] The creatures have been existing since the Ordovician period, and still flourishing today."[3]
