Aspergillus transmontanensis is a species of fungus in the family Trichocomaceae first isolated from almonds and maize in Portugal.[2] It is from the genus Aspergillus and the Flavi section.[3] It has been reported to produce aflatoxin B and aflatoxin G.[2]

Growth and morphology

A. transmontanensis has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
