Bauhinia monandra is a species of leguminous trees, of the family Fabaceae.[2][4][5] Common names include pink bauhinia,[6] orchid tree,[6] and Napoleon's plume.[6] The tree is native to Madagascar, where it is widespread in lowland humid forests and dry forests.[1] It has naturalised in Myanmar, Australia, Christmas Island, the Caribbean, southern USA, Colombia, Brazil, and the Pacific Islands.[5][7] The species is invasive in New Caledonia.[8]
