Deiregyne is a genus of flowering plants from the orchid family, Orchidaceae, native to Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.[1][2]

Taxonomy

The genus Deiregyne was described in 1920 by Rudolf Schlechter in Beihefte zum Botanischen Centralblatt. 37: 426. [3]

Etymology

Deiregyne: generic name Greek formed from deire, "neck"; and gyne, «pistil» or «woman»; in reference to the sepal sitting on the ovary that forms a neck-like extension.[3]
