Hemisodorcus arrowi is a species of beetle in the family Lucanidae.[2] The beetle shows great similarities to the stag beetle, most notably its enlarged mandibles.
Description
Hemisodorcus arrowi has significant similarities to the stag beetle, but it is substantially smaller and the males have smaller mandibles. Unlike the stag beetle or other large beetles of the family Lucanidae, Hemisodorcus arrowi has a growth range from 0.30-2 centimeters in length. Their exoskeleton, is a reddish-black color, and has the same amount of protection compared to other beetles of the Lucandiae family.[3]
Distribution
Hemisodorcus arrowi lives in East Asian countries such as Burma, Thailand and in Yunnan Province, China .[4] it is known to inhabit the forests there due to the abundance of food.
