Heteronotus is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Heteronotinae, of which it is the type genus. It was first described by François Laporte in 1832.[1]

Description

Most species of Heteronotus have an appearance mimicking ants and wasps, with hollow bulbs and spikes.[citation needed] In some cases, the pronotum stretches beyond the wings.[citation needed]

Distribution

Species of Heteronotus are found across Central and South America, stretching from Mexico to Argentina.[1][2][3]
