Hylarana indica, the Indian golden-backed frog, is a species of frog in the family Ranidae. It was formerly considered as conspecific with H. temporalis but was found to be a new species, in a 2014 study.[1]
Distribution
This species is so far reported only from the Western Ghats state of Karnataka and Kerala.[1]
Habitat
It inhabits the secondary and primary forests, also found near wetlands adjacent to forest and sometimes associated with perennial fast flowing streams.[1]
Etymology
The species name indica came from a Latin word which refers to the origin of the species from India .[1]
