Hylarana maosonensis is a species of frog in the family Ranidae. It is found in the mountains of central and northeastern in Vietnam, Annamite Range in Laos, and southern Guanxi, China . Its common name is either Mao-Son frog or Maoson frog, after its type locality in Vietnam.[2] Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical evergreen forests where it can be found from leaf-litter banks and in shallow water along rocky streams. Reproduction takes place in pools and slow moving streams in forest. It is a locally common frog that is not considered threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).[1]
