Litopenaeus is a genus of prawns, formerly included in the genus Penaeus.[2] It contains five species:[3]
- Litopenaeus stylirostris Litopenaeus occidentalis
- (Streets, 1871) (Burkenroad, 1936)
- (Stimpson, 1871) Litopenaeus vannamei
- Litopenaeus setiferus (Boone, 1931)
- Litopenaeus schmitti (Linnaeus, 1767)
Parasites
Litopenaeus is a suspected host of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a pathogen of humans.
