Myxococcaceae is a family of gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria.[3] It belongs to the suborder Crystobacterineae in order Myxococales and comprises four genera validly described as Myxococcus, Corallococcus, Pyxidicoccus,[4] and Aggregicoccus;[1] joined by Simulacricoccus (only NCBI).[2] The family Myxococcaceae covers the best explored and studied myxobacteria with a wide scope of research.
