Payena microphylla is a tree in the family Sapotaceae. It grows up to 45 metres (150 ft) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 160 centimetres (60 in). The bark is black to reddish brown. Inflorescences bear up to 15 flowers. The fruits are ovoid to ellipsoid, up to 4 cm (2 in) long. The specific epithet microphylla is from the Greek meaning "small-leaved". Habitat is lowland mixed dipterocarp to montane forest, from sea level to 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) altitude. P. microphylla is endemic to Borneo.[2]
