Philogeniidae is a family of damselflies belonging to the superfamily Calopterygoidea.[1][2]

Taxonomic history
In a revision of Megapodagrionidae, Janis Rácenis (1959) recognised the tribe Philogeniini as part of a broader classification of the family.[3] The tribe included Philogenia and several related genera from the Neotropical, Afrotropical and Oceanian regions.[3][4]
Subsequent molecular phylogenetic studies showed that Philogenia and Archaeopodagrion form a distinct lineage within Zygoptera. The tribe Philogeniini was therefore elevated to family rank as Philogeniidae, with the family restricted to those two genera.[5][4]
