Platycephalus bassensis the (southern sand flathead) is a predatory fish in the family Platycephalidae. Endemic to southern Australia , the habitat is coastal areas, in shallow waters to 100 metres deep, over sand, mud and shell grit. The maximum length is 46 cm, and weight to 3.1 kilograms. A popular angling species. The specific epithet bassensis refers to Bass Strait, in southern Australia.[1][2][3]
