Pontinus furcirhinus is a species of scorpaenid fish, one of several known as "red scorpionfish". It is found in the eastern Pacific Ocean from northern Peru to Baja California, Mexico.[1] It lives at depths of 50–390 m (160–1,280 ft), and feeds on crustaceans, cephalopods and bony fishes.[1] It is "apparently a common species", and is gregarious.[1]
