Porcupine dates, Hao Zhu Zhao, 豪猪枣, (箭豬棗), Batu Landak. The Malayan porcupine bezoar (Hystrix brachyura bezoar). Porcupine dates also known as porcupine gallstone or bezoar are a folk remedy in Malaysia. Sellers claim that porcupine bezoar is highly effective for treatment of various illnesses.
A bezoar is a mass of food trapped in an animal's digestive system, usually from consuming grass and herbs. Sellers claim that porcupine bezoar has many healing properties.
There's high demand for porcupine bezoars in Malaysia, and it is said that medicinal shops charge as much as RM700 for under half a gram.
