Sargassum natans is a species of Sargassum.[1]
In English the species goes by the common names common gulfweed, narrowleaf gulfweed, or spiny gulfweed.[2](p126)
It occurs in the Sargasso Sea.(p123) It is also pelagic[3] and reproduces by fragmentation.[4](p65) It along with Sargassum fluitans have been credited with plaguing the Yucatán beach tourism industry.[5] and South Florida.[6]
