Solariella rhyssa is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Solariellidae.[1][2]
Description
The height of the shell attains 1.7 mm, its diameter 2 mm. The small, translucent shell has a trochiform shape. It contains four whorls, including a smooth nucleus of 1½ whorl. The suture is distinct. The section of the whorl is circular. The axial sculpture consists of (on the body whorl 35) narrow threadlike ribs, regularly spaced, uniform, the interspaces wider. They extend from the suture to the verge of the umbilicus. The spiral sculpture consists of minute spiral threads showing in the interspaces under a lens, but not modifying the axial ribs. The wide umbilicus is funicular. The simple aperture is circular and, sharp edged. The brown operculum is multispiral and horny.[3]
Distribution
This species occurs in the Pacific Ocean off Catalina Island, California.
