Tekoapora is a monotypic genus of spiders in the family Theraphosidae containing the single species, Tekoapora wacketi.[1]

Distribution

Tekoapora wacketi is endemic to the highlands (up 1,100 m above sea level) of the Espinhaço Mountain range and States of Minas Gerais and Bahia, Brazil.[2]

Etymology

"tekoá porã" ("good land") is the way the Mbayá, the original people, refer to the Serra do Mar region.[2]

The species is named after M. Wacket, who collected the male holotype in 1900.[3]
