2,6-Dihydroxynaphthalene is an organic compound with the formula C
10H
6(OH)
2. It is one of several isomers of dihydroxynaphthalene. A white solid, degraded samples often appear grey to light brown solid.
Preparation and reactions
2,6-Dihydroxynaphthalene is prepared by base hydrolysis of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid.[1] It can be oxidized to 2,6-naphthoquinone using lead dioxide.[2]
