Chemistry:Navel displacement

From HandWiki

Navel displacement is a purported condition in Ayurvedic beliefs when the navel centre is thought to shift.

Diagnosis and treatment

Determining whether the navel is displaced is done by the following procedure:

  1. The person concerned lies on the back with legs straightened.
    1. The patient can also stand straight, touching both the toes together and with the hands straight, and fingers pointing to the ground.
    2. Another person measures the distance between the navel center and the nipples, both distances should be identical, even a small difference of a millimeter is diagnosed as a displacement.
  2. Another person measures the distance between the navel center to the left and right toes of the person lying down.
  3. If both distances are not equal, the navel is said to be displaced.[1]

Manipulation by hand & even cupping, some use the jerk method to realign the navel,Prof.Siddiq of Hyderabad is also one of the experts who realigns with several different methods depending upon the shift of navel from center.

Causes and symptoms

Diagnosis of such a condition is common in some parts of North India & also South India. The diagnosis is made by villager healers, who recite mantras, tie roots to the afflicted body, or draw the chalk outline of another, centred-navel body on the ground as cures, even some roots tied upon the navel, some even cure with a talisman.[2] Proper practice of yoga is also considered to be a way to realign the navel.[1]
